You should note that the mod comes is RAR format. You will need WinRar or any other rar-compatible decompression software. Winrar can be aquired in http://www.rarlabs.com Although I might be insulting your intelligence, fellow player, here are the installation instructions: 1) The file is a .rar package; just double-click it and tell it to decompress everything in your Baldur's Gate II root folder. Make sure you extract all subfolders, an option that should be checked by default on any extractor you are using. 2) Open your BGII folder, and double-click 'Setup-Imoen.exe'. If there is no Setup-Imoen.exe in this directory, you have extracted it wrong. 3) Wait for it to install everything, and press enter when it is asked so it will unpack some additional files. And that's it... you can play the mod now. If you want to uninstall for whatever reason, just double-click again 'Setup-Imoen.exe' For those that have followed the mod history, you might have noticed I've killed both "musicless-tisless" and "tisless" versions. If they don't, go to the next step. 3) DELETE these Imoen files from your BGII folder: entire ImoenRom folder, Setup-Imoen.exe, Imoen.tp2, MusUnin.bat 4) Now unpack normally the newer file you downloaded. If there is any patch, unpack it too so the mod will be patched BEFORE installing. 5) Install the mod. You will notice that it takes longer to install than before. That's good... And you are done. If you've played more than once, feel free to use it... if you do, you will only be missing the little comment from Imoen about Khalid if Jaheira isn't in party. When you are taken to the exit by Jasper, wait a little until the first dialogue triggers; after having that, walk some steps away from the exit and the second should trigger too. It has been tested countless times, so there shouldn't be any problem. _________________________________ ** Although it's been reported that no problems have been encountered, it is recommended that you don't install any mod with TS that is not supported. Check what is supported here: http://www.teambg.net/forum/?board=92;action=display;threadid=7351 There might be another compatible mods, hopefully such as this one, but those in that thread are the supported ones; "supported" meaning that you can report bugs with those mods installed without fear of getting a "uninstall that mod, you goof!" reply. Imoen's Romance is not supported, and thus not recommended to install over Tortured Souls. Although until now there is no reason to think they aren't compatible, you may install it only if you assume the risk on your own! _________________________________ This is not the complete list of every mod Imoen's Romance is compatible with... it's only a list of those that have been tested and there is reasonable knowledge that they are compatible, although you can be never completely sure. If you find any problem that might have to do with compatibility issues, don't hesitate and report it in the proper forum. __________________________________________________________ 3. *** THINGS TO EXPECT IN THIS MOD *** - Imoen and the main character are brother and sister / sisters. I know that 'moral conflict' can arise due to this... If it outrages you that 'incest' is involved in this mod, you just shouldn't download it... The mod doesn't ignore this fact; I don't enter in the "They are siblings or not" conflict: I simply start from the point that they *are*, something that is perfectly known by the player and by Imoen herself (which doesn't mean that I really believe this). That is why it's "so difficult" to romance her. - Imoen will romance any PC, regardless of gender or race, so any player will be able to enjoy it without being tied to race requirements. I think this is the only thing I made without thinking at all in Imoen's personality. I simply don't want the player to be forced to choose a character (s)he doesn't want just because (s)he wants to romance Imoen... However, the romance fits only with 'humanoid' characters (Human, elf, half-elf) in matter of stature... what I mean is that I didn't write any "Imoen kneels and embraces you"... - It is HIGHLY recommendable that you start a new game to fully experience the romance. You don't need to do this to experiment at least half of the interactions, but if you want her to love you, you'll have to start from the beginning. - Imoen might stick with you no matter how evil you are (to a degree), but that doesn't mean that she'd love some 'evil bastard from hell'. If you want to romance her, play nice and treat her well. However, evil characters may romance her, but they must be a little more careful than others. - Actually, romancing her might get quite difficult (having success at it), as it has been already reported; having your half-sister love you isn't easy task... but having a healthy relationship with your sister isn't difficult at all; what I'm saying is that even if you don't romance her, there are quite a lot of interactions that do not involve 'love'. With this I just want to advice that if you actually romance any other NPC, she won't try to grow any conflict between you and her and the romanced one; she just won't romance you, and act as a sister instead. - There IS bad language in this mod. It's very little, the classic 'forbidden' words (don't know, shit, crap, and the like) but it might offend some people. - The things the main character and Imoen do together (the described ones) when loving each other could be rated as 'softcore' (by a quite strict reviewer). - Also, there are many options that would be judged 'morally wrong'. It is the price for more free of action. There are times in the game that there aren't enough dialogue options to fit what you really might want to do; An effort has been done to "fix" this (At least a little) so you will sometimes find many options; some of them, speaking plainly, cruel or violent. Overall, there is some adult content in the mod, and you should stand warned. -If you are afraid you won't experience all the romance through SoA because you play too fast and Lovetalk timers haven't had time to expire, the only thing you can do is leaving the game in pause mode for an hour or so, so the romance will begin... however, there are Lovetalks that will only begin if YOU talk to her, or some special triggers meet... so please have patience playing the game so Imoen will have her time... - Nothing in this mod is 'official'. I made up some major history of the characters, invented many events in their past lives, even the way Bhaal conceived his children; nothing mentioned can be considered as 'true' or 'official'. - Please have always in mind that the music is homemade, thus the lack of... 'proffessionality'. I and think it fits the dialogues, and up to the date no one has reported any bad feedback about it. But, since no one has the same musical tastes, if you find it unbearable just turn down your speakers, or download the music-less version. Also, if you hear this horrible 'buzz' typical of bad recordings, try turning down the treble of your speakers... it sounds fine for me when they are at 40%. __________________________________________________________ 4. *** VERY IMPORTANT NOTE *** (Sorry for the little spoiler, but it is necessary) If you want to ROMANCE her, DO NOT RUSH TO RESCUE IMOEN. Take your time. Solve your quests. Get some expensive, powerful weapons. Whatever! Simply *play normally*, taking your rightful time to reach her, rest all you want and eat whatever you please. And, over all things, have sweet dreams... ... ... ... ... ... If you want to be sure everything will be alright, don't cheat. If you cheat, some nice dialogues *could* be lost... It depends on the nature of your cheating, but if you cheat in any way you are assuming the risk on your own, so don't come to ask what you are missing! grrr... __________________________________________________________ *** ANOTHER NOTE *** TeamBG has absolutely nothing to do with this mod. Yup. For those who don't want to download the full version because they are able to extract this file the Mod requires from BGI, here's how to do it... Things required: - A copy of Baldur's Gate I - TeamBG Infinity Engine Tileset Map Editor - IETME (The link to TeamBG, where it can be downloaded, can be found in the webpage from where you are downloading the mod) Things to do step by step, easy-as-pie mode: 1) Install BGI 2) Install IETME 3) Open IETME, go to the 'preferences' menu and set the path for Baldur's Gate I there. 4) Go to the 'File' menu, and click the 'Open new / switch to blahblah' option. 5) Now go to 'File' again, click 'Open original area from the game' 6) A large list should appear; search in it "AR2600", and open it. 7) Now all the messages are closed, you should be viewing the map of the old Candlekeep. If you're not seeing it, you've done something wrong... 8) Click once again 'File', then 'Save'. Tell it somewhere to save the map and click 'save'; for the example I will choose 'C:\ImTis\' 9) When the program asks you to "Rebuild the .Tis file", tell it 'Yes'. All other questions, tell 'No'. 10) Very well, once the 'File saved' kind of message appears, now close IETME and go to where you have saved. You should find there some files, two at least. Find the "AR2600.tis" file and select it. 11) Now rename the file to "AR26MR.tis" (You just have to hit F2 key when selected to be able to do that...) 12) Delete all other files, and take the "AR26MR.tis" file to your Baldur's Gate 2 OVERRIDE folder. Also, going through the re-reading of all the text, I made MANY modifications myself and added many new lines too, mainly to the first things that were ever written for the mod (like the main talks with Imoen, for exaple) but to the whole dialogues in general. Xanar was REALLY helpful with many strings that refused to obey my command, did some extremely useful proofreading and gave some pretty neat ideas too... *bows to Xanar* I really think a whole new run-through through all the mod would be worth the effort, but it is only my opinion... ADDED: A non-Imoen romance thing, just for fun. I've always been a little disappointed with the little glimpse of madness you can grant Desharik with; now, he will have TRUE reasons to think you are utterly, completely, undoubtedly and positively mad. So much that your alignment will change to Chaotic Neutral if you choose those newe options... FIXED: Now, just before the "involvement scene", instead of waiting for Imoen to speak to you after she suggests to rest, you have to actually HIT the rest button for it to begin. You can postpone this all the time you want so long as you don't go to the graveyard district. Have in mind that it will only trigger in the elven encampment. Tight packing methods have been used in this version to reduce the download size drastically (it's less than half its original size now) This is thanks to TisPack, a very neat program developed by Per Olofsson and impulsed by Jason Compton.
