How to Start a Game

The first thing you need to do, is post a topic here announcing that you'd like to start a game. Your announcement MUST have a topic similar to the following:

[Players Wanted] D&D 4e campaign "Terror in Thay"

You'll use this to attract attention and get players. Once you have at least three players, you'll need to request a sub-forum.

Requesting a Sub-Forum

Every game must first have a Storyteller: someone who runs the game, acting as Game Master or Dungeon Master, or whatever you want to call it.

If you are interested in becoming a Storyteller, you need to PM TCDale (or, if Taig isn't available, Theacefes) and include some basic information:

1. The name of the game you'd like to start (like "Terror in Thay" or "The Chronicles of the Nameless").

2. The ruleset you'll be using, more or less (i.e. D&D 3.5, Scion, etc.)

3. The maximum number of players you'll allow to play.

4. A brief description of the basics of the game. (i.e. "A new king has arisen in Thay -- a king whose deeds are so dark and whose rule is so cruel that people dare not even whisper his name. A small band of heroes has arisen, united by their hatred of the man who has harmed them and their loved ones. Together, they send the Demon King back to Hell...")

5. The rating of the game. (Such as 'PG', or "R" for adult themes, whatever.).

As a note: by 'roleplay' we mean the fantasy, elves, and monsters sort, not the 'rebellious teenage girl and her hot studly teacher' kind. Roleplay with sexual themes in appropriate places is okay; roleplay purely for sex is not.

Responsibilities of a Storyteller

If you convince the mods that you'll be a good storyteller, then you will be granted a subforum in the Roleplay, and be made moderator of it. You control the subforum and are responsible for all content inside it.

1. You need to keep your subforum active. Keep your story alive! Subforums with NO new posts for more than 3 months, risk being deleted.

2. You need to make it fun and exciting for your players. Draw them in and entertain them.

3. Keep it clean and tidy. Make sure that you are ready to deal with player disagreements, and make sure that your game doesn't cross any unpleasant lines.

And after that... have fun!
