Plot-wise, I'd say it's better. Much, much better. Same for the characters. I especially like that if you keep picking the snarky dialogue options anything else your character says starts to include snark too. Gameplay, it's iffy. Levels are re-used (same cave for every cave, same warehouse for every warehouse, etc) but that fits with the narrative framing device. While actually playing the game is quite fun, especially as a rogue since they tend to flash step all over the battlefield doing flips and all. Fun to watch. And the strategy is still there if you want it.

So rationally? I honestly can't say BG2 is better. DA2 beats it in almost every category.

And I wish I had Fenris' voice. So so bad.

So, did they finally do away with the awful "turn-based"-"RTwP" hybrid that plagued IE games?

FFS it's just to make the development cheaper, not anything else. Is the game price lower to compensate for that, though?

Anyway, what is the game story about?

Hmmm. I'm not sure what I should talk about. I don't want to spoil anything.

... No. I got nothin'. I know the deal behind the framing device so I'd end up spoiling that. And anything else I could talk about wouldn't do the meat of the story any justice.

Heheh. "Justice" Heheh heh...

Well, you can use spoiler warning and tell me everything :D . It's not like I'm going to have a computer capable of running it next several years :) .

Given that the Demo I played looked to be on just about as good as Sacrifice (a PC game released in 2000) can you give us a screenie or two that indicated otherwise? It might just be that I'm not running DX11 hardware and that the demo only has DX9 and DX11 support.

So far the reviews indicate this isn't the case.

Thanks for the link - I now feel relieved that Bioware haven't released an abomination against modern games by releasing something I should be able to code by the time I leave uni.

On the other hand, given that the game is Direct X 11 those screenshots don't appear to be taking advantage of the new features offered and are just about on par with the original game.

Given the sheer number of negative reviews by customers I can't say I'm impressed with it as a sequel.

... Nah. Stopped caring what this dude had to say as soon as I read "I stopped playing the game when I started Act 3. My patience was overcome by a dragon."

Translation: I stopped playing the game because of an easily skippable sidequest so I could trade credibility for more snarky comments.

No, he didn't stop playing the game because of an easily skippable sidequest. He stopped playing the game because of the shit combat combat system and the shit encounter design.

I love it when people state opinion as fact. Especially when it's someone else's opinion.

... Not that your opinion matters either, mind, since you've freely admitted you haven't played it and probably never will. I was gonna argue. But I'd be arguing with people who only have second-hand knowledge so the whole thing would be kind of sad and pointless.
