Hmmm...

Well, I've only used two characters with IR.
A female elf mage/thief that mirrors Imoen but with much more reservation. I used her the first time I played IR...
Being much weaker than my normal characters thanks to a pretty poor roll for stats, I ended up relying much more on my companions and... of Imoen!

It gave me a unique situation where Imoen was the stronger sister.
I thoroughly enjoyed that character.

Although, my current character; and main long-term character that I use for IR is my male half-elf sorcerer.
Being able to match Irenicus solo, he is a different kind of character than the elf mage/thief...
The relationship here seemed to me less close yet more intimate to Imoen...
My character was teetering towards the dark/evil side thanks to the essence/power, and I was really hoping Imoen would be the voice of balance in IR ToB that would keep him from being corrupted/saving him. I wonder if ToB IR will address an evil character to help them? [Meaning I think I was Chaotic Good in SoA, but after the trials, I ended up Lawful Evil or something along those lines]
Shouldn't they address the change in my behavior in some way?

I'd agree with the last bit. Some reaction to the PC turning 'evil' would be nice. It'd be kinda hard to NOT notice someone you travel with going from CG to LE, wouldn't it? Some kinda hint or such?

"Gee, CHARNAME, I didn't know you collected the spleens of fallen foes to decorate your home! When did ya start this....habit?"

A cookie to whoever can tell me where the spleen reference comes from. :)

That's not what being evil is about. An evil person doesn't need to be a murdering psycho and personally I found the sudden alignment change at the end of SoA a bit... unrealistic, for a lack of better word. You've been good for your entire way and now you're turning evil for one act, even if it's listening to a demon? Don't buy it.

And harvesting organs of fallen foes isn't really only way to show one is evil. I imagine it would be much subtler: a violent streak here and there, being more reserved, showing more cruelty than it would be required, occasional bout of bloodlust... stuff like that. One can be evil and not have people around them notice.

I'm all for it, but like I said. Don't assume that if PC becomes evil at the end of hell trials s/he automatically becomes a murdering psycho. Or that even Imoen would notice.

Eh...I think we have a failure to communicate here. Or perhaps I just wasn't quite definite enough.

I agree with the whole 'one evil action turns you from CG to LE'. I remember when I first saw what killing the genie did to my alignment. I kinda went "WTF?" for a minute. I could understand if you chose the evil choices for all 5(or was it 6?), but going evil for just one? A tad much, innit?

And again, I agree with your point on there being different levels and types of evil(cruelty and such). Though sometimes, the aforementioned cruelty can be unintentional, but that's another matter, in my opinion.

I kinda disagree with the 'Imoen-not-noticing' bit, though. Even if it takes some time, I'd imagine some sort of indication would eventually pop up. Maybe not immediately, but still...

And the comment about spleens was mostly just me messing around. Though the quote comes from the amusing half-dragon warrior enemies in NWN: "Your remains shall decorate my home." ;)

Sorry for the late reply, BTW. I didn't notice the 'new post' icon until today. >_>

I think the change could make sense somewhat... Making decisions everyday shouldn't really affect your alignment readily, but dealing with fractions of your soul or some hell created by yourself/Irenicus (been a while can't remember the details)...
I'd imagine something that happens there could cause an artifical and sudden change to charname's behavior. I guess :O

Yeah that's a problem with the game, in my opinion. A 20 year old elf wouldn't be anywhere near adult -- the Players Handbook puts basic adulthood for a level 1 elf at 110! For a dwarf or gnomes, that's 40. Halflings and half-elves and humans? 20, so that's okay. But a 20 year old elf going on an adventure? Eh.

But yeah, they can't really say that you've been hanging around Candlekeep for 50 years. If they started you out at 110 -- or anything above 20, really -- you'd outlive Gorion by the time you were old enough to be potty trained.

Hey!

Well, my first replay of BG2 with the mod I romanced her with my female Paladin Ceira (because of the stupid vampires in BG2 I prefer the undead hunter to have an advantage) - now, playing BG1 again, I created a female warrior called Elwen and i'm going to romance her again with that character when I play BG2 again... (because I like the Warrior's stronghold)

In short: Somehow I like to play female characters and I ..lets say, have become infatuated with lesbian relationships. ;)
